Google builds in Chile its first data center in Latin America

With a range of services continues to grow (in numbers and performance) and users worldwide, Google is establishing data centers outside the United States to provide better coverage and service and globally and, in addition to the six data centers they have in the United States, the company has centers in Finland and Belgium as well as working on opening another 3 centers in Asia. Indeed, with the idea of improving access to their services, the company has announced a new data center in an area that had no presence but
which have experienced tremendous growth in the use of its services: Google opens its first data center in Latin America in the village of Quilicura , Chile .
The announcement is more interesting because the construction of a large data center (especially if it's a company like Google) represents an important opportunity for the development of any region since it leads to the creation of direct and indirect jobs during construction and after completion of the work, during its exploitation. It is expected that, following the construction and commissioning, Google will directly employ about 20 people (and has already begun to post jobs ) in operation and maintenance tasks (operations technicians, engineers, security personnel and services , etc) but also works to create jobs serve (about 200) and activity in multiple companies (utilities, facilities, etc.) in the country and, in fact, Google is committed to encouraging the region with grants and initiatives linked to "build community."
Google plans to invest about $ 150 million in the project (on a long-term estimate) where, in addition, the company will apply all their expertise in the use of clean energy, energy efficiency and optimization of cooling data centers . Although Google concentrate 0.01% of global electricity consumption , data centers in Mountain View boys are famous because they have high energy efficiency achieved by a series of good and innovative practices regarding the cooling (adapting the methods to the data center location) and the company's emphasis on the use of renewable energies (betting on investment in the generation of these energies and eventually cause even more clean energy than they consume).
Construction is expected to begin later this year for the data center could be up and running by the end of 2013 so you can join the great cloud of Google and service, with better features, users in Latin America (where Google has experienced significant growth in the use of their services) and thanks to this facility, as well as improved availability of services will also improve access and response times.
A win for Chile and Latin America.
